McyD's

My first Big Mac set (that's what they call value meals over here) of the year. I don't eat McyD's too much after watching Super Size Me , but I felt like eating a big mac the other day. McyD's Japan is planning to make the country fat this year. I went in there, and they had three new burgers: The Mega Mac, which is two big macs together; the Mega Muffin, which is two Sausage Muffins together; and the Mege Teri, which is two teriburgers together. I opted for the regular Big Mac. They don't sell quarter pounders in japan for some reason. They gave me everything in three bags. As you can see the big mac is about the same size, and the fries are about the same size. Only the drink is smaller. I don't think I can finish an american sized drink anymore anyway. Taste was the same except for the fries, which had less of that lard taste. Boy I miss that lard taste.

Oh, I also forgot that they sell a green tea McFlurry which might actually be good. I'll try it one of these days. Summer is just around the corner.

vending machines

Here's a pretty old beer vending machine that is on my way home from school. This one even sells 750 ml bottles of sake and shochu. There are so many vending machines in Japan it's crazy. Probably every couple of blocks there is a vending machine that sells soda or juice. Near the liquor stores there are vending machines that sell beer and cigarettes. Why they need so many vending machines in this country is a mystery to me.

Cafe de F.O.B.

You know how we call Japanese tourists FOBs in Hawaii? Or any tourist for that matter, "Oh wow you J.O.J yeah?!" <--same difference. Anyway, in Harajuku there is a store called cafe de fob. I haven't been in there, but I wonder what the fob stands for in Japan? There are even some jeans called F.O.B. I was going to buy it just for that except that it was 200 bucks. I think their good jeans, but I can't spend that much on jeans that say F.O.B.

Japan, the land of giants

Not everyone in Japan is 4'3" There are some jolly green giants here, too. This is in one of the train stations. I have no idea who designed it, but apparently everyone was a lot smaller back then.

ultraman

You know you're in Japan when you're walking around, and you come face to face with this guy. In Hawaii you have statues of King Kamehameha and the Duke. In Japan you have statues of Ultraman, and these pokemon cat looking characters. Actually they do have non-childish statues around, but I've never thought of taking pictures of them. Maybe I'll start taking those pictures when the earth starts warming up. It's supposed to be spring, but I'm still going strong with my long sleeve undershirt and wool sweaters. Of course, everyone else in Japan is saying how hot it is, and going around t shirts and what not. I guess my blood hasn't thickened yet. If I had to choose, I think I would choose hot over cold. Even though hot sucks just as bad as cold. At least you don't feel like you're carrying your whole wardrobe on your back. Would you rather be in hot weather or cold weather?

all my might

saw this on digg, and had to throw it up because it is definitive of all my might. A Kamikaze "Launch!!" to you old lady.

baseball

headed out to watch a baseball game last night. The tokyo giants vs. the chunichi dragons. I think chunichi is from nagoya or something. I had never been to a ball game in japan, and it was only about 18 bucks, so why not. I had to eat a hot dog because it was a baseball game, and I was looking for the peanuts guy/girl (they only have girls selling concessions in the stands), but she didn't exist. Each team has a huge cheering section like they do at basketball games, and the cheering sections have a special cheer for each player. When that player comes up, they all start going off with their special cheers. It's kind of interesting. Keeps the game interesting I guess. Dragons won.

spring

Now that winter is over and the snowboard is put away in the closet, it's time to aimlessly walk the streets of tokyo on the weekends. This week, I wandered around aoyama and harajuku. There were building this crazy looking building, and they had the little construction wall up, and it was a picture of a bookcase, or something. I thought maybe it was a nike building since most of the books were about nike and designing. There was one funny book on there. Check it out. Only in Japan.
