Gala

I live in Saitama, which not looked upon kindly by neighboring prefectures. I'm not sure why, but people don't really like Saitama. I think it's fine. one good thing that Saitama has, is that it's fairly close to the mountains. There are tons of mountains in Japan, the best ones are in Hokkaido, so I hear, and the the decent ones are in Nagano or Niigata. Saitama is near Nagano and Niigata. Today, I headed out to a place called Gala. Gala isn't the best place to board, but it is one of the most convenient I have ever seen. It's about an hour from my train station by bullet train, and the bullet train drops you off right at the foot of the mountain. You get out of the train, and walk about a hundred feet right into the gondola. You board all day, and then head back to the bullet train at the foot of the mountain.

Tried out my new board today. It's pretty stiff, so good for pop I guess. I suck at any kind of tricks snowboarding. Guess I gotta practice. It was snowing all day, so the sides of the course were about 2 feet deep. Guess I don't know how to ride powder either cause I was eating it most of the day. More practice.

Snow looks great. I was not good at tricks either. I loved the trees and carving.

It was surprisingly good. Yeah, trees and carving are the way to go. It would be nice if there weren't so many people sitting or lying down on the run. It was like a minefield out there.

Gala's the first place I ever tried a jump at. Ah the memories. They had this giant soda can there that you can hit too. I wonder if thats still there?
